Revisiting Intaglio Print
I have recently been awarded a Northern Arts grant through the Ontario Arts Council to create a suite of 20 intaglio prints. I have studied printmaking extensively in university, but living in northern ontario I do not have ready access to a print studio. Having recently purchased a second hand printing press I now have to opportunity to work in this medium once again.
I will be working through various mechanical and chemcial processes to produce intaglio plates. The focus will to do so in an environmentally friendly and safe manner (where this artform has historically been riddled with toxic chemicals and and processes unsafe for a small studio).
I will be focussing on water imagery for this project as a compliment to my work in paint. Water is a favourite subject of mine as it works as a metaphor for so many things. Its constant movement and changeability offers a challenge to me and is what I find so interesting.
I will post images here as my project progresses.
